Dear Coleen: So often we complain when we see or read something we don’t like, and far too often we forget to say thank you when we see or read something we are in agreement with, such as your “masterpieces,” Sex Respect…; Love and Life…,” etc. Sister Paula has told me so much about you and mentioned some of the difficulties you’re having with other’s opinions of your writings and teachings on chastity. It appears that many of our people are experiencing the same problems in this area, even from their own colleagues. You know what that tells me? In my case, as I believe should be in yours, we know we are doing the right thing. The reason I say that is because when our own people “battle” with us, it makes us doubt ourselves… “Well maybe I shouldn’t have been so blunt,” or “Perhaps I should have worded it differently.” When you know you’re doing the right thing and you suddenly start doubting because of what someone else has said, that doubt is a “negative,” quite different from that “uneasy feeling” you get when the Holy Spirit is telling you “change something,” or “it isn’t quite right.” (I learned that from Sister Paula!) I don’t know how you feel when someone questions or downgrades your material but I’ll bet that when you first worked on it, you were more than convinced that it was what was needed. Stay with your original feelings, Coleen. I’ve read your work and it is exactly what youngsters need to know! Your writings are right on target–don’t change a thing. Do you ever wonder why God seems to give Christians such a hard time? I do! I am a licensed FCC Amateur Radio Operator. I speak with kids all over So. Calif. on the amateur bands, and I can honestly tell you that CHASTITY IS COMING BACK! Believe me these teens are feeling terribly pressured, not so much by their peers as by society in general. And when I mention “sex” and “chastity” on the air, youngsters jump in from San Diego to Santa Barbara to discuss it and most of them are in agreement with what you are teaching. It is mostly the adults who jump in and argue with me! But kids are very open to chastity. Keep up the good work, Coleen. You are marvelous! In Service to Life, Kathy H.
